Believe it or not, the life we are living right now has been chosen by us before we were born. We have chosen the life experiences, and descended with the necessary skills and attitude, appropriate environment and people who can support us with our soul journey.
Despite this, life feels challenging. So, what makes us feel this way? The reason is our memory; we do not remember the agreed soul learning before we descended. Our life itself makes efforts to remind and guides us. It places us in an appropriate environment and surrounds us with right people who help us with our journey. As we align our self with the soul learning, the environment and people change to ensure learning continues. Whilst the universe and nature make all the efforts for soul growth, we do have free will. We can either accelerate or delay our soul growth; it is depended on us. This is called “free will”. There is always a path for us, if we take that path or not, decision lies with us. We are in charge of our own destiny.
Soul learning is more complex than we think; however, it follows a pattern and it is cyclic. The cycle must complete for a particular soul learning to complete. The pattern includes the following stages:
Trigger
In order to overcome a learning, it needs to be triggered first in our life. A trigger helps our soul to remember it, subconsciously. If a feeling of guilt is to be overcome in this lifetime, we will be encountered with situations where guilt is continuously experienced.
Enquiry
Before recognition and awareness, we go through an enquiry mode, we ask our self “Why is this happening to me?” and we start to quest for an answer for our trigger.
Recognition and Awareness
A trigger and enquiry stage helps us to recognise and become aware. As soon as the awareness stage is reached, our soul starts seeking for a solution. Before a solution is identified and becomes obvious, the universe tests us, as it wants to ensure we are committed and determined, before the awareness is fully established. This is the most critical stage of the process.
Identify a change
Once the soul learning is recognised and awareness is reached, it requires identification of a change for the trigger to be overcome. What changes are you going to make moving forward, these can be internal and external?
5. Implement a change
If a conscious decision is made to overcome the trigger, an identified change must be driven and implemented by us. It requires an action. Changes are usually tough as it requires us to step outside of our comfort zone, face our fears and uncertainty. However, if an intension is set to make the change and as part of free, we chose to proceed with the soul learning, guidance and support is automatically received from the universe or in some rare cases we start to remember solution we already possess subconsciously.
At this stage, we start trusting the universe, surrender ourselves and are willing to deal with anything life throws at us, like a warrior.
Universe has its way of helping so once that intention is set out in the world, the environment will start to change around us, along with our mindset. It is like we are driving on a path that is set by someone else, we are unfamiliar but know the destination. Remember an action is still required from our end!
Integration
Once the changes are implemented, next comes a phase of integration. This is where we start embedding the change in our life which supports our soul learning. It usually feels unsettling as we are stepping outside of our comfort zone and our daily norms.
It is a feeling of starting a new life!
Stabilisation
Stabilisation is achieved when a change is fully integrated. The change becomes part of our life, it no longer feels unsettling or outside of the comfort zone. Once stabilisation is reached, the soul learning is considered as complete and triggers are stopped.

Here the cycle ends for a particular soul learning, there are no more trigger for that specific learning, but here is the trick, though the soul learning cycle ends for a particular learning, it is very likely another trigger maybe be encountered for a different learning. Learning comes in stages rather than all at once, allowing us time to absorb, overcome emotional endurance, recognise, identify and implement a change, integrate and stabilise. A learning is not complete until the stage of stabilisation is reached. Important thing here is to recognise the stages to break the pattern and accomplish a soul learning.
To conclude, free will plays a huge part in our soul learning and it is exercised at every step; it acts as a junction for decision making. Most people find ways to avoid the trigger, by finding a replacement comfort or even by wasting time acting as a victim. This delays the soul learning; it acts as a distraction. If this happens, the soul learning is interrupted at whatever stage it might be at, and we will have to wait for another trigger to restart the process. After certain time, we will come across a similar life situation, and a trigger is initiated again. This happens as universe wants to give us another chance to choose a different path and continue with our paused soul learning. It never gives up on us.
Though the universe supports and guides us, without free will a soul learning is impossible.
So, next time you exercise your free will, do it wisely!
